Odonata Wings
Odonata is a community based on the principles and practices of the Ecovillage movement, our members exploring new ways to live in peace and harmony on the Earth. We design ecologically, live spiritually and learn the art of sharing our lives, supporting each other's efforts to create right livelihood and sustainability. From this abundance and experience, we offer what we have learned to the greater community, and contribute to the healing of the world.
We are a community in formation. Our core group lives and works near the beautiful seaside community of Newburyport, Massachusetts, USA, where the Merrimack River meets the sea. In our mission statement, we state our intention to purchase land in this region.
Odonata Wings is the web journal of the Odonata community. In any project of length and breadth, there is enormous wealth of learning and of information that passes through those involved. In our case, there already has been a large gift of time and resource from our members; there will be time from the conception of the idea to birth of the community on the land, and the enormous scope of our endeavor, from the most concrete (designing and building physical community structures) to the most abstract (consensus processes and skills for living in harmony in a spirit-based circle of people).
So much can be lost to the passage of time. In our web journal, we hope to keep careful and accurate impressions of our travel from nothing to something quite vibrant and alive. So inb years to come, when people ask "So... how did you find your architect? How did you manage to raise those funds? And however did you manage to stay together through all of that...!", we will be able to answer from our hearts, but also from these photos and words we will have collected over time.
Our Odonata Stories is a special section of this web journal, where members of the community tell how they first heard of Odonata, and by what lines -- straight or amazingly curved -- they came to be members of this community, dedicated to sustainability and spirit.
We hope you enjoy our story. Blessings.
